Canada, eh

So we went to Canada for the 1st time in July and we had a blast. It was the 1st time Josiah had ever been on a plane and only the 2nd time for Eli (he was only 7 months old the 1st time). While we were there we got to do a lot of fun stuff but we were also able to minister at a small church in Toronto. My dad preached the service and Meredith and I sang one of Meredith's songs, "In All the Earth". It will be the title track on the upcoming live worship album released by SAGU in November. Click here to see some great pics from the trip!

Pray for England

Our regional director over Europe just recently received this e-mail from the superintendent of Sri Lanka and I'd like to share it with you:

From: Michael Dissanayeke
Subject: Pray for UK.

Dear Friends,
Last week I was visiting London right in the middle of the riots and I could not believe my eyes that civilized society would behave in such madness.
While politicians and police point fingers at each other, I found the following article in the Daily Mail by a secular journalist very enlightening, directing us to a different direction.
It’s time to pray for Britain that the Church in the UK will reclaim its role in Society.

Please take some time today to pray for God to raise up Nehemiahs in the Church to birth some strategic initiatives for this Nation.

(It’s a comprehensive analysis - if you are busy, just scroll down to the final paragraphs)

This article very clearly shows that having material possessions definitely does not equal happiness. Pay attention to the pictures of those involved with the looting in England, they're not stealing because they're poor. The sad truth is that the turmoil you see in the news in London and other parts of the country has more to do with the spiritual depravity of the nation which has completely turned away from a biblical foundation and has turned instead to humanism and self-satisfaction. England is in need of a moral revolution and spiritual transformation that can only be found through Jesus Christ.

1st @ Firewheel

On Sunday July 17th we were invited to lead worship in Garland, TX at 1st @ Firewheel A/G. It was really exciting for us for a number of reasons. Our area director who we’ll be working under in England used to be the youth pastor there several years ago and the current president of SAGU was the associate pastor. Meredith’s aunt and uncle used to attend for much of the time that they lived in the area as well.

Also, the current associate pastors, Ken and Jeannie Morris were the 1st AG missionaries to the UK (in Scotland) and if it had not been for them we may not be in the position we are today to go as missionaries to London. Not only were they pioneers ahead of us but they also played an instrumental role in our journey to become missionaries. We met with them in February and shared our heart for England and they gave us support, encouragement, and sound advice about how to pursue our dream. Thank you Ken and Jeannie!

Finally, our close friends Ted & Michelle Wallace (Meredith's sister) were able to come with their 4 kids and we got a really nice photo of our boys with a couple of their boys (they also have an 11 year old daughter and a new born baby boy) who they consider to be their best friends ;)

During worship, God really moved and I was so encouraged to see such a diverse group of people going after God wholeheartedly. After worship we were able to share our vision and heart for England and the church blessed us with a generous missions offering. Then, God really used Pastor Hanks to deliver His message for the people with boldness and conviction. I truly believe that God has great things in store for 1st @ Firewheel!

Thanks for reading and pray for us to be able to raise our support quickly so we can get to England as soon as possible.

Life after PFO

Since we got back home from Springfield, MO we have been really busy. In fact, so busy it’s frustrating! I’m back in the real world working about 40 hours a week and the reason it’s frustrating is because all I want to do is work on raising our support, but it’s equally important that I work to pay bills, cover insurance, etc…(as you can imagine). Somehow though, I believe God is going make up for my lost time and multiply the time I am able to work on raising support.
