We had such a good time in Jacksonville (no not Florida….. Texas). If you don’t know where Jacksonville, TX is, it’s about 30 miles directly south of Tyler and about 2 ½ hours east of Waxahachie. Meredith’s dad (Mike Townsend) became the pastor of 1st Assembly of God in Jacksonville earlier this year and he and his wife Donna have really been an incredible blessing to us throughout this whole process. We actually came to their church in May right after we found out that we had been approved to be missionaries to England. They were actually the very 1st church that we ever shared our vision for England with and their generous offering helped to enable us to pay for our missionary training in June.
On Sunday, July 31st we were able to go back again and share further details about what we’ll be doing once we get to England and we also ministered in music. We led the congregation in worship and we also played one of the songs that we had written. Also, Ted and Michelle Wallace (Michelle is Meredith’s sister) were able to come and help us with worship. Ted plays the drums and Michelle sings and plays keyboard. Meredith actually led from the acoustic guitar and I was able to play electric.
After service, their church actually voted to become a General Council church so it was a really exciting time for them. We went out to a really delicious little Italian restaurant in town and then we were on our way.
