Bastrop, LA

On October 16th we were privileged to be in Bastrop, LA, which is near where I was born (West Monroe). On Sunday morning we were in 1st Assembly and on Sunday evening we were in Trinity Assembly. It was a long 7-hour drive on Saturday but we finally got there around dinnertime. When we arrived at the hotel there was a large gift bag full of delicious fruit, snacks, and candy for the boys and us! Then Pastor Willis took us to dinner in Monroe at a large Asian buffet. We were excited because they had sushi and the boys were excited when they found out they got to eat ice cream for dessert!

On Sunday morning we were able to help the pastor and his wife with worship and we had a lot of fun because they are both very musically gifted and together we came up with some great harmonies. After worship we were able to share a song that we wrote and give a short missions window. The sermon was given by Brother David Reddout who is part of the missions awareness team in the area. I was so encouraged to hear his heart for missions and some beautiful stories he had to share of people sacrificially giving to missions.

On Sunday night we planned on having the boys help us with the missionary window by singing their missionary kid song but it turned out they were not in the mood to cooperate lol! I guess the long road trip and lack of sleep finally got to them ;) Meredith ended up taking the boys to the nursery and she was actually able to speak with a woman who had really been through a lot recently. She really felt like God put her there as an encourager. Meanwhile, God gave me a message to preach to the congregation on faith and I felt like it went well. I especially felt led to share a couple of my own testimonies of healing with the church and to pray for people who needed physical healing.  After service the pastor took us to a delicious pizza restaurant in town and we had great conversation with he and his wife.

It was a great weekend and we were so overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of the pastors. Thank you Pastor Willis and Pastor Pack!
